This mid-1944 bike has undergone a meticulous refurbishment tailored to the specifications of its new owner, utilizing many genuine parts from the collection. A substantial amount of effort has been invested, culminating in today's rigorous 20-mile test run amidst heavy rain and wind.

Remarkably, the bike performed admirably, requiring only minor cable adjustments upon completion. Emblazoned with the insignia of the esteemed 45 Commando Unit, this bike boasts a distinctive touch of history. Notably, it features the exceedingly rare MT3/LU/50073 push-button Lucas headlight—a testament to its authenticity. This unique component, which saw the elimination of the conventional light switch and ammeter from the headlight assembly, exemplifies the ingenuity of wartime engineering.

Furthermore, the Lucas U39-L15 switch, now repositioned beneath the saddle on the right side of the machine, adds a functional and aesthetic dimension to the bike's design. Equipped with a test position indicating its charging status, this modification represents the pinnacle of standardization during the twilight of World War II.

This refurbished bike stands as a testament to both its historical significance and its enduring functionality. It serves as a tangible link to the past, embodying the spirit of innovation and resilience that characterized the wartime era.
